Fall is a magical time in Virginia, and for homeowners in a Main Street Homes community, you’re never far from the fun. Wherever you are around Richmond, there’s no shortage of activities, festivals and seasonal celebrations to explore, so here’s a guide to the best fall festivals and fun things to do near your Main Street Homes community.
Activities right outside your door
Start your season by exploring some of the region’s favorite fall traditions. One standout setting is always the Chesterfield Berry Farm, and the Fall Festival & Pumpkin Harvest goes until October 27. Enjoy hayrides, stop by the pumpkin patch, enjoy some delicious food and don’t forget to try out the famous corn maze. Not far from there, the Midlothian Village Day Festival & Craft Fair on October 19 also offers a lively atmosphere with local crafts, a raffle, food vendors, inflatables, and more—ideal for those looking to experience the charm of a tight-knit community.
For those who love a good scare, a visit to Ashland’s RED VEIN Haunt is a must. This premier haunted attraction promises an exhilarating experience with its spine-chilling scares and intricate sets. Just a short drive away in Glen Allen, Creepy Hollow Scream Park and Forest provides another fantastic option for those craving a frightful experience this fall season. Both the park and forest promise an unforgettable adventure filled with thrills and chills.
If you're looking to venture a bit further, the Rassawek Autumn Festival at Rassawek Vineyards on October 19-20 is a true showcase of Virginia’s rural beauty and traditions. With antique machinery, artisan demonstrations, a petting zoo and a professional rodeo, it offers a fun, scenic getaway for all of your loved ones to enjoy. Carter Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville also offers a delightful fall experience with apple picking and a variety of seasonal treats to try, and if you get the chance to visit for their Thursday Evening Sunset Series before September 26, you should never pass it up. From 6pm until 9pm, enjoy live music, food trucks, Bold Rock Hard Cider and breathtaking views as the sun goes down.
Finally, living so close to Richmond means you’re never far from one of the largest fall festivals in the state—the Richmond Folk Festival. This annual event happens on September 27-29 and takes over the downtown waterfront with a weekend full of music, dance, food and crafts, making it a great way to experience the city’s diverse culture. Later on October 27, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s HarvestFest is the pace to be and boasts a fall celebration complete with line dancing, pumpkin displays, delicious food and gorgeous fall blooms.
