Now Employee-Owned: Main Street Homes Celebrates a Major Milestone

January 12, 2025

A Milestone Move for Long-Term Growth and Stability

Vernon McClure, President of Main Street Homes, is proud to announce that Main Street Homes is now 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This milestone represents more than just a change in ownership—it’s a testament to the dedication of our team, the strength of our local roots, and our unwavering commitment to the communities we serve. As we celebrate this momentous achievement, we’re more determined than ever to build a lasting legacy of excellence in homebuilding, powered by the people who have helped shape our success.

A Legacy of Excellence, Now in the Hands of Our Team

Founded in 1996 by Vernon McClure, Main Street Homes was built with one simple but powerful goal in mind: to create new homes with quality, value, and style. Over the past 25+ years, we’ve built over 5,000 single-family and townhomes across Central Virginia, and our commitment to our mission, "Building Value in Our Community," has remained the foundation of everything we do.

The decision to transition to an employee-owned structure ensures that our core values continue to guide us as we evolve. By becoming 100% employee-owned, we’ve strengthened our commitment to local ownership and long-term stability, while giving our dedicated team members a direct stake in the success of our company.

A Bright Future for Our Team and Customers

"We are incredibly excited about this new chapter for Main Street Homes," said Vernon McClure, President of Main Street Homes. "Our entire team now has a direct stake in the company's success, which will only strengthen our foundation as we continue to develop new communities, deliver high-quality homes, and maintain the customer service that our buyers have come to expect."

For Mr. McClure, this move represents more than just a change in ownership—it’s a new opportunity for growth, stability, and long-term success. "I am not going anywhere. I love our industry and building homes and communities," he added. "The ESOP gives us a strategy for the next 10 years, providing a vision for sustainable growth that benefits our employees, customers, and the entire community."

Empowering Our Employees

With this transition to employee ownership, every member of the Main Street Homes team now has an ownership interest in the company. This empowerment allows our employees to contribute directly to the company’s success and long-term sustainability. It’s not just about building homes—it’s about building a lasting legacy of excellence, teamwork, and shared success.

Join Us in Celebrating This Milestone

As we celebrate this exciting new chapter, we invite our customers, trade partners, business associates, local realtors, and the community to join us. This milestone reflects our shared dedication to quality and community, and we look forward to continuing our work in Central Virginia for many years to come.

We’re excited about the future and all the possibilities this transition brings. Thank you to everyone who has supported Main Street Homes over the years—we couldn’t have reached this point without you.
